Nationally Agreed Output

OG15.1 Debris Removed along length (km) of waterways

OG15.1.1 Kilograms of debris removed

Intent

Natural disasters often result in an accumulation of debris in waterways and floodplains which, in turn, can exacerbate damage from future flooding events and can create a public health hazard.

The intent of this Output is to record the amount of debris removed from riparian zones after a natural disaster. This output helps to measure on-ground work that contributes to Disaster Recovery Response, but can also be used for future events if they occur.  Current Output Codes do not accurately measure these types of activities.

OG15.1 If possible both sides of the waterway (e.g river bank) should be measured.

Exclusivity

This output code is to be used when removing debris from riparian areas only. Use OG15.2 for the removal of debris for all other areas.

Definition

Riparian: Any land which adjoins, directly influences’ or is influenced by a body of water.
