Nationally Agreed Output

OG8.2 Number of weed seed or plant disease wash down facilities established or renovated

Intent

To record the total number of seed or disease wash down facilities associated with a native vegetation or habitat enhancement/management project. This output will often be associated with other outputs (e.g. vegetation rehabilitation/enhancement, fencing etc.) as weed management is often part of a coordinated approach to achieve native vegetation management and improvement. The measure for this output is the number of wash down facilities established. Where renovation is being recorded, consideration should be given to the value of the investment, in either dollar terms, or in the process and technology used.

Weed and disease management is often an ongoing activity with continuous effort required at the one location. Wash down facility will be confined to one area so that dislodged seeds that germinate are destroyed. The number reported under this output should be the total number of wash down facilities established or renovated during a project, with a project being defined by a discrete allocation of funding and resources. Other weed management outputs can be reported on the same area if further effort (funding and resources) have been allocated under a new project.

This output should be limited to reporting on areas that currently have a weed infestation and where effort is needed to control this. Areas that are currently free of weeds should be managed to keep them this way and this would be reported under a native vegetation management output (eg. OG 3.4)

Exclusivity

Weed or disease management for wash down facilities can be considered a secondary activity to a number of other outputs. Where weed management is contributing to native vegetation enhancement/rehabilitation then the appropriate vegetation enhancement/rehabilitation output (eg. OG3.1, OG3.2, OG3.3 or OG3.4) may also be selected. Refer to the specific output for further details.

Activities

The types of activities to be reported under this output would be those efforts directly related to weed management, such as:

Key Definitions
